kids

Thank you mommy bloggers!!

We woke up to tons of snow this morning. So I decided to take the day off since I had to get papers ready for my bookkeeper anyway. A couple days ago I came across a profile on social media and instantly I was hooked. I guess she was a teacher so she has lots of  awesome kid friendly recipes and games on her blog. She is also obsessed with her kids and it makes me feel like I am not the only crazy mommy out there. (Her website is www.mamapapabubba.com.) There was one recipe that I just had to try! Baby play dough. Edible baby play dough. London and I literally whipped it up in 5 minutes or less. We had every ingredient in our kitchen too. 5 ingredients.

- 1/2 cup Love Child Organics Oat & Chia instant cereal

- 1/2 cup Corn Starch

- 1/4 cup Love Child Organics apple puree

- 1 tablespoon coconut oil/butter

- 2 tablespoon boiling water

The more you work it the more the coconut oils comes out and it quickly becomes this beautiful consistency. I'm pretty sure you can use any baby instant cereal, and any baby fruit pure. I added food colouring and at first it may look a little marbled but if you keep at it it will look identical to play dough. London was in heaven! It brings me so much joy watching her feel like such a big girl by helping me. I love being able to spend quality time with her. I thought this was all so perfect since London is obsessed with Love Child anything. I did not know they are Canadian. London loves it so much that I have bought a bunch to hand out as free snacks at the store. So come by and enjoy some duck puffs, rice cakes, & apple pures on us.

Wishing I Was Home Today ....

I get a call from my nanny at about 2pm ( I always pick up right away when it is her) and right away I could hear London screaming in the background, "you need to come home right away, London fell, she is bleeding, London is hurt"  I swear to god it felt like my heart skipped a beat and not in a good type of way. I closed the store right away and basically ran home in the snow. My heart literally feeling like it was going to burst not knowing how I was going to find my daughter. Thankfully I live one block away, so I got home pretty fast. When I walked in all I could see was blood everywhere. On the floors (white marble) on London's face, her clothes. I sort of started to freak out when I saw the size of the cut but Kevin put me in my place and said in a very stern voice, "calm down, you are no good to her if you are freaking out, relax, its okay"  Being able to hold her was the best feeling. Knowing that yes she was hurt but that it was nothing extremely serious. She calmed down after a little. I've heard that the face bleeds a lot. I have also heard that babies heal fast. My poor nanny is probably suicidal because of this. I know how much she loves London, and I know it was not her fault. She actually said that it happened right in front of her eyes. I guess London tripped over our bulldog and fell face first on a sharp edge (our house is very modern and not the kid friendliest) Anyway, just wanted to fill you guys in and remind you to be extra careful with these little people! I am just happy she is okay. I have been thinking about her all day and wish I was with her right now!

London Lainey Lewis

I am currently working 7 days a week. Which leaves very little time for me to do anything like, cook, bake, walks, distillery christmas market, etc. I am however extremely flattered and humbled by all the people who come by the store and tell me they read the blog, or tell me they drove down from Markham/up north. Please be patient I have very exciting news coming up and cannot wait to fill you guys in. I am also currently in the process of setting up our online shopping so that ALL of our items can be available for purchasing online. London however is starting to notice my absence. When I get home she will not let me put her down for a second without starting to cry. She will give me hugs and kisses none stop which literally melts my heart each and every time. She won't let anyone put her to sleep but me, but then because she has not seen me all day she tries to stay up. And me being the big softy that I am have to admit I have let me stay up for a few nights past 9:30 - 10PM (normally her bedtime would be 6:30-7pm) The other thing that is happening that breaks my heart is that when she comes to the store during the day she wont want to leave. Once she leaves  its always with her full out crying/screaming. I have actually had to close the store down a few times and carry her all the way home as she will not go in the stroller. I almost wonder if she should come to the store or save her the cry? feeling a little confused. I just love seeing her for that short period so much. Being able to hold her kiss her! I am crazy about her!...okay I am going to stop now.

Royal Winter Fair

I got Kevin to pick me up an hour early from work, and we decided to take London down to the Royal winter fair. I was in heaven hanging out with my cute little family (heart explosion). London got to see horses, cows, pigs, chickens, and bunnies. She kept pointing at all the animals with a huge grin on her face. Watching her experience things for the first time is such an incredible moment for me. Feeling her grab me tighter when she is scared, or letting go of me when she is feeling confident. She got to feed some goats, and alpacas. Watching Kevin and her hold hands, or kiss melts my heart every single time. We walked around, found a cute antique booth. We got to try a hot apple dumpling for our first time, and it was amazing! Warm, sweet, and gooey. When we finally found the food court we had pirogies, a burger, and potato pancakes. Kevin was sitting across from us and he kept giggling, turns out London's face was covered in sour cream!! On the way out she picked out a little hedgehog stuffed animal. She loves stuffed animals! By the time we got home London had fallen asleep in the car, she must have been tired from all the walking. Her little legs can only walk so fast, but she manages to keep up! These are the type of days I live for, memories that will last a life time. xx

Our 1st Media Event

I am proud to say that Macpherson Toy House attended its first media event. It was exciting! Tons of talking, tons of people. Lots of editors, bloggers, and tons of good exposure. Hopefully with a little bit of luck we will be picked up in somebodies holiday gift guide, or t.v segment. I was there from 8am to 7pm, and when I got home I fell asleep right away in my clothes without washing my face or brushing my teeth until 9am the next morning. I didn't realize I was so drained! I woke up to 4 boxes of new merchandise, time to unpack, price, steam, rearrange, and create barcodes! ..... and its only Wednesday :)

Lookbook

Our first look book is complete!! I am happy to say thank God this week is over! What a stressful experience. I never thought 12 pictures, and 12 little descriptions would be so difficult. Anybody who has said this is easy has obviously never done it. This is all very new to me. I am however, extremely happy with the way it came out (thank you Tony Smith!). It was hard narrowing it down to only 12 items as I have hand picked everything myself. Every piece is special. Every piece in our store in handmade, and has a heirloom quality about it. Our items are meant to last, meant to be passed on from generation to generation. The whole concept of our store is to stay away from anything that is mass produced, plastic, and yes things that are made in China. I have made a conscious effort to support local talent and carry as many things as I can that are made in Canada. There is a link to our look book at the bottom of our website or you can click right here. Please have a look and let me know what you guys think. It is perfect for the holidays!
